Adopt an Athlete
If you've ever wanted to experience the thrill of the Olympic Games from a front-row seat, here is your opportunity!
Your pledge of long-term support to one Olympic aspirant will do more than help that athlete defray the hefty expenses of training and competing. It will create an unforgettable bond and the immeasurable satisfaction that comes from making a real difference in one young person's life.
Here's how U.S. Athletic Trust's adopt-an-athlete program works.
- You commit to ongoing support of an athlete identified by sport and school (e.g., "a Princeton high jumper").
- We select a qualified athlete who matches the description and make the introduction.
- We require the athlete to check in with us monthly and we post their news and results on our website; we also facilitate direct contact between you and the adopted athlete.
- You receive a tax benefit… and the joy of being a part of "your" athlete's quest for Olympic glory
Here is what some of our adopted athletes have to say about the AAA program:
“(My adopter) and I communicate regularly… his support is a motivating force; there is someone cheering me on at all times.” – Brian Chaput, javelin thrower: 3rd, 2006 USATF Outdoor Nationals
“I’ve developed a strong personal relationship with (my adopter) which has definitely helped my athletic development… I consistently update him on my progress and, in turn, have received great advice.” – Sam Burley, 800m runner: 3rd, 2006 USATF Indoor Nationals; 4th, 2006 USATF Outdoor Nationals
