Become a Career Coach
As college graduates, our athletes know that sport -- even Olympic-level sport -- is only one aspect of a well-rounded life. Your experience and knowledge can help them make an effective transition to life after the awards ceremonies.
Our Career Coach program gives U.S. Athletic Trust athletes an opportunity to learn about specific career paths from successful and experienced volunteers. They also may offer advice on:
- Balancing training schedules with the demands of work and family
- Selecting and working with coaches
- Negotiating contracts with or without an agent
- Post-sport career planning.
When you volunteer to be a Career coach to an athlete, your name, title, employer, and job description will be made available only to our athletes. It will be up to them to contact you. Once they make contact, the extent of your involvement in the athlete's career development is up to the two of you. You may remove yourself from the mentor list at any time.
Career Coaches are expected to keep all athlete information in the strictest confidence unless otherwise instructed by the athlete.
